Name: Sam Samsudi

Title: Regional Director, Sales – APAC

Describe your role: As the Regional Director of Sales, I’m responsible for expanding Cendyn’s footprint in a few markets around the region. At the same time, I also collaborate with the marketing team on certain initiatives throughout the year. Most importantly, it’s a highly rewarding role to be able to help hoteliers around APAC build stronger, lasting and profitable relationships with their guests using technology built for the industry.

Singapore

Tell us an unknown fact about where you are based: You can be fined up to SGD$1,000 for not flushing public toilets after using them.

What attracted you to Cendyn? Firstly, coming from a hospitality tech background, I was already familiar with Cendyn’s brand and software capability. Secondly, I had a close friend working at Cendyn who shared the company’s vision, its culture and its strong leadership team and it made quite an impression on me.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? I was once a hotelier before switching over to the hospitality tech side. Having this experience has proven invaluable to both my clients and myself because I can understand their challenges and at the same time, help them map out what they need from a technological standpoint, rather than just what they want. Plus, I love CRM and I personally invest in a CRM app on my phone to help manage my network of friends, past and present colleagues, and family.

What do you like most about working at Cendyn? I’ve got an amazing bunch of colleagues who know what they’re doing, are smart, hilarious and passionate about making our customers successful!

Favorite Cendyn moment: The bowling competition we had during our Sales Kick-Off in New Orleans. It was hilarious, fun but at the same time, I realized that when the going gets tough, the Cendyn team sticks together and has your back.

Define hospitality in your own words: The art of creating a home away from home.

What do you like to do for fun? Football (soccer), traveling, impromptu gym sessions, YouTubing on the latest gadgets, tech reviews, historical documentaries and perfecting the art of making a burger – still not there yet, but getting there.
