In celebration of Women’s History Month, we are featuring some of Cendyn’s Undercover Superwomen who work diligently behind the scenes to help our customers and company succeed. Most of these women are so humble they’d never shine a light on themselves, but we’re going to today!

Selected for their track history of authenticity, trust, responsibility, perseverance and consistency day after day, here are some of the impactful women of Cendyn who are lifesavers, each in their own unique way.

 

My name: Yihong Ge

Title: Manager of Software Development/Scrum Master

Describe your role at Cendyn: I manage software products across multiple areas, including guest front-end, admin back-end and production.

My strength/skills/superpowers: I manage an Agile team using scrum methodology and end-to-end software life cycles, including requirements gathering, business analysis, software design, software implementation, release and software production support.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? I can handle fast turnarounds and manage a nimble software process and teams.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? My greatest joy is that the software we design at Cendyn can really change the industry and give guests a smooth experience – and after the software is released, I can use it for my own reservation.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Besides the architecture, history and natural surroundings of the hotel, it must have a high technology experience. Keyless (use your mobile to check-in), smart mirror (use it as a mirror and surf online at the same time), a SmartRoom which includes your YouTube profile, etc. But I’d like to imagine some other hotel trends like A.I.-based room upgrades and bids, using a QR code for hotel information, robot room service, etc.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: Work-life balance.

 

My name:  Allison Goldstein

Title: Content Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: For over eight years, I’ve helped shape countless display campaigns, eProposals and even the voice of Cendyn. I get to write about new and interesting places every single day, and help our clients hone their branding to attract new guests and group business.

My strength/skills/superpowers: Writing eye-catching and engaging copy. Editing internal and external marketing materials for accuracy, grammar and precision. Researching new trends and implementing those strategies into Cendyn’s creative work. In addition to being a poet/musician/artist/unapologetic cat lady, my other major superpower is an innate sense of style.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? My passion for travel is definitely something that translates into the work I produce for our clients. My need to grow, experiment and find creative fulfillment through my work also allows us to produce interesting and trendsetting campaigns, as well as help hotels speak to their target audience while expanding their reach.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Getting to work with the rock stars in Creative Services. Since we work with clients and serve every other department at Cendyn, there are always new challenges and opportunities to grow. I couldn’t think of a better team to take on those challenges with.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? It’s personalized without being overbearing. Creating an experience that is warm, authentic and thoughtful is a balancing act – especially when it comes to guests who are on the introverted side. The best hospitality experience is one where I feel valued and have access to authentic and unique experiences without being pressured.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: That more women truly understand and believe in their invaluable contributions to the companies they work for, whether it’s asking for a well-deserved raise, mentoring other women, and/or investing in education that can help them get to the next rung on the ladder. On an even broader scale, I hope we get to a place with paid maternity and paternity leave as federal policy and begin to close the wage gap.

 

My name: Kate Macgregor

Title: Account Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: I work in Sydney as an Account Manager supporting Cendyn’s Australian clients. My role consists of client support, problem-solving and helping strategize with clients on the best way to use our business solutions.

My strength/skills/superpowers: I am proactive and focused, motivated and independent.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? Working remotely in Australia these skills all play a large part in my workday. I think being focused and scheduling my days around the work is very important while keeping a good work-life balance. Also being a self-starter helps!

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Building relationships with people. Creating a routine that works for you and seeing ideas come to life and projects succeed. And who doesn’t enjoy some positive feedback!

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Australians are very friendly and chatty people. I enjoy it when the receptionist, waiter serving you or even the barista at your local cafe is conversational and engaged. You might not see that person again, but a short interaction can really brighten someone’s day. That extra attention and friendliness go a long way!

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: Where do I start?! Keeping it simple, I wish for more female mentors, role models and stories about female success.

 

Vianney Ferguson

My name:  Vianney Ferguson

Title: Sales Director, Hospitality Cloud

Describe your role at Cendyn: As the director of sales for the SouthEast and the Caribbean, I represent Cendyn’s hospitality solutions in the hotel space.  My role is to grow our footprint within the region and empower hoteliers with tools that gather all the data they need to connect with their guests, improve strategic decisions and optimize revenue opportunities

My strength/skills/superpowers:  My strengths are building long-lasting relationships with customers and colleagues, something that I am passionate about.  I have been in the hospitality industry for two decades and wherever I go, I am still connected to past/present customers and colleagues. My network throughout the years has helped me build a successful career and it all boils down to that strong connection, trust and care aspect. The famous Maya Angelou said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” – words I live by.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? Having a strong network in the hospitality industry has allowed for growth and success – a network I am extremely grateful for.  Every project I bring to the table was achieved by persistence and strong interactions throughout my tenure but also trust in the solutions I represent.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? The greatest excitement I feel at work is when my customers are happy and tell me how the product they invested in has made a significant difference in their operations. Success stories are what I live for and I won’t rest until they are absolutely happy.  It brings me joy to go above and beyond because the end result will bring in more business and a restful night’s sleep!

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: Historically as women, we were often made to feel like being quiet or speechless was best.  We have the stage and different platforms for our voices to be heard.  Don’t be afraid to speak up and get loud.  We haven’t broken through the “glass-ceiling” yet, but if we continue to work smarter, better and harder it will be raining glass everywhere you look.  Be brave, be strong, be yourself!  BE unstoppable!

 

My name: Claire Boys

Title: Project Manager EMEA

Describe your role at Cendyn: Implementing CRM solutions for clients in the EMEA region.

My strength/skills/superpowers: I am thoughtful, determined, curious and a fast learner

How do your strengths play into the work you do? My curiosity means I will ask questions (and lots of them as some people know),  my determination allows me to carry on and stay motivated when things are difficult, being a fast learner means (hopefully) I don’t need to be told things a million times, and my thoughtfulness means I look out for my colleagues too.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Getting things done!

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Being at the center of the experience, where the hotel knows enough about me to make my visit just right for me.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: That no matter what job they are doing, they are confident and believe in themselves.

 

My name: Stacia Wiens

Title: Senior Delivery Quality Specialist

Describe your role at Cendyn: QA for live data, historical data and answering all of the questions around data that the team around me has.

My strength/skills/superpowers: I am very black and white; there is not much grey with me; I’m an “it is” or “it isn’t” kind of thinker. I don’t like to not know something; I dig until I get a suitable answer. I guess that makes me stubborn or strong-willed but, I see that as a strength. I also am good at Tetris-type games, so figuring out how all the pieces can fit together and what needs to be done to adjust them to fit.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? In data QA, you are always trying to find the reason behind the anomaly – that is my favorite part of what I do! A passing QA is boring, give me something abnormal so I have to truly think about it and can work to figure it out and fix it.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Getting to do something I love every day while learning the entire time. This is not a stagnant position; it constantly morphs and causes me to grow. I am part of a growing team and that in and of itself has been a learning experience. We are coming from the ground up, but we are already flying. I couldn’t be happier.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Relaxing in an Adirondack chair on a white sand beach, my toes just in the water with a forensic novel in one hand and an ice-cold cocktail in the other. Awaiting me at the end of the day is a cool open-air shower, big fluffy towels and coconut-scented lotions that never fade. This could go on for a day or a week. I would be so happy and relaxed after either that it wouldn’t matter.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: To not just have a job for a paycheck, but to get the opportunity to help create/shape their roles and do what makes them happiest and most fulfilled.

Title: Customer Experience Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: Helping customers get the most out of Cendyn solutions.

My strength/skills/superpowers:  Being a customer advocate, being thorough, having an open mind and being a people’s person.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? I love talking and learning and this helps build strong relationships with my customers as I learn about their countries, their cultures, their hotels and their needs.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? My colleagues: we have a GREAT team in EMEA and we fit together really naturally.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Excellent service “in the wings,” so not too pushy or in your face, but there to service your every need, making it look effortless and, of course, service with a smile!

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: That they don’t have to explain to people why we need to celebrate the progression of women in the workplace and society.

 

My name: Kelly Hazlett

Title: Human Resources Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: As HR Manager at Cendyn, I am responsible for supporting the team and entire organization with any Human Resources matters.  This includes coaching people managers, leading HR initiatives, conducting new hire orientation, performance management, employee engagement and all other people related activities.

My strength/skills/superpowers: I believe my “superpower” is my ability to communicate and relate to employees at all levels of the organization and my ability to build and maintain relationships.  I love people – coaching, developing, counseling and engaging have always been my passion, and I feel my purpose is to share my strengths at home, at work and in life.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? I am hopeful that I demonstrate humanity and excellence (two of our company values), on a daily basis.  My ability to build relationships and show empathy and patience have been very relevant and important in my work, and I believe that the results and outcomes do speak for themselves.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Seeing people happy and engaged brings me the most joy – we are a work family, oftentimes we spend more time with one another than with our friends and family.  Happy employees make productive employees – this brings me joy!

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? The best hotel experiences I have had all relate back to personalized service.  The WOW factor, as I call it.  The experiences that have touched me the most all involve kindness – above all, be kind always, to everyone, in every situation.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace is to see more businesses take the time and resources to invest in the engagement, development and empowerment of future women leaders.  Even after decades of progress, we still see reports of low numbers of women in senior leadership roles.  We need to work together and promote specific strategies to empower women to problem-solve, engage women with fulfilling work and to take the time to develop female talent.  We must wholeheartedly devote ourselves to BE the solution – this issue will not simply solve itself.

Title: Training Manager | Previously: CRM Account Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: My role at Cendyn is to empower our clients to realize their CRM potential. Currently, our department is undergoing some exciting changes and my day changes depending on the hat I am wearing, from offering data-driven CRM solutions to helping our clients navigate our products with ease.

My strength/skills/superpowers: My strength is my ability to remain positive and flexible through any situation I am put in.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? My strength plays into the work I do because of how outside factors can impact the hospitality industry. It’s important to be that positive cheerleader for our clients as they are undergoing offseasons, natural disasters or the Coronavirus. Sanitation for all!  Internally, my positivity helps push my team members through challenges or long days.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? The opportunity to work with our amazing team and clients. There’s nothing quite like working through a major project or empowering smaller clients on how to better tell their story through their marketing efforts.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? My best hospitality experience is one where my experience at the hotel has been personalized for me. It’s a room where I can hear the sound of the ocean and there’s a bottle of champagne waiting for me.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: For women to be unapologetically themselves and never be afraid to speak up.

Title: Senior Customer Success Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: My main goal is to maintain and establish client relationships to ensure the success of our sales solutions by providing timely implementations, executing solutions to client pain-points and in-depth training.

My strength/skills/superpowers:

Strength: Attention to detail

Skill: Ability to multitask and prioritize

Superpower: Communication

How do your strengths play into the work you do? Having strong attention to detail allows me to remember key points of each client project and establish a good relationship, which helps build rapport. I manage a large volume of projects ranging from corporate rollouts with larger hotel chains like Hyatt and smaller management companies like Noble House, as well as a variety of projects for independent hotels all at once. Prioritizing and multitasking is a must. Being able to communicate not only effectively, but efficiently with people inside and outside the company is necessary to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Working alongside other people who strive to be the best and make a difference in the workplace.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Small details go a long way. I love it when a hotel remembers my favorite wine or appetizer and when I sit down for dinner, they ask if I’d like to order it again. It shows that they are listening and care about their guests; I’ll always come back!

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: Don’t be afraid of a challenge, work hard and empower yourself. Never stop learning and seek opportunities.

Describe your role at Cendyn: I lead the project implementation, customer success and production teams that support our Sales Cloud and Guestfolio products.

My strength/skills/superpowers: High attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving ninja!

How do your strengths play into the work you do? I pride myself on the ability to evaluate a process, identify inefficiencies and create solutions.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Solution making! I really enjoy assisting our clients in utilizing our tools to streamline their processes and increase productivity.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Making me feel as if their only goal is to provide an amazing experience made specifically for you.

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: My wish is that the next generation will use their voice and not be afraid to speak their mind!

Leslie Lautin Davis

My name: Leslie Lautin Davis

Title: Product Communications Manager

Describe your role at Cendyn: I manage and create the content for all the Cendyn product Help Centers and Release Notes. I write micro-copy (the small bits of copy within an app that guide users). I also edit and put finishing touches on documentation and presentations.

My strength/skills/superpowers: I’m a perfectionist with high standards when it comes to my work product. I’m an intuitive learner and an effective communicator. I love collaborating with my team and contributing my part to advance our mutual success.

How do your strengths play into the work you do? I embrace my perfectionism and use it to guide my work. Let’s just say there’s a reason my colleagues call me “eagle-eyes.” I bring my out-sized attention to detail to every project I touch. I also enjoy helping our users by breaking down processes into small steps that any user can follow.

What brings you the greatest joy at work? Seeing my work have a positive impact on users’ experiences. I get a thrill to see how many help center articles are read each month. Finding the perfect few words of micro-copy to explain a complex situation to users in an understandable way is also satisfying.

Imagine your best hospitality/hotel experience – what does it look like? Being away with my husband without the kids!

My wish for the next generation of women in the workplace: Less guilt! Easier ways to juggle work-life responsibilities.
