Trivago has discontinued its Free Booking Link (FBL) offering starting January 17, 2025.
What were Trivago Free Booking Links?
Similar to Google, trivago introduced free ads, which allowed hotels to appear on the metasearch engine without the need for bidding. This initiative was designed to give hotels a chance to gain more visibility and drive direct bookings.
By offering these free ads, trivago aimed to showcase the platform’s traffic and booking potential, encouraging hotels to eventually invest in paid campaigns (CPC or CPA) for even greater exposure and revenue opportunities.
